The fight shown all over the pitch demonstrated the true character of this group. They never backed down and came back swinging in the dying minutes of extra time.
We, as a club and a town, are so proud of you all. Every young player leaving Croke Park yesterday, or watching at home, will take something special from that performance — the lesson to never give up.
We would like to thank everyone from Athenry, our fellow Galway clubs, and those living overseas who sent their best wishes to the team and management yesterday. To all who travelled to Croke Park or tuned in at home.
We go again the first weekend in January.
